Two members of the audience are each allowed to select an envelope. They may change their minds if they wish providing great scope for comedy. Eventually they are happy with their selections – leaving one envelope on the tray.
The spectators open their envelopes. From one a message is taken which reads “Better luck next time”. From the other a message that states “Sorry you’ve been troubled”. On opening the third envelope, the one rejected by the
spectators, the performer withdraws a fifty pound note.
